Resilience, survival, adaptability. These are all themes of this novel advised in 4 elements — energy, water, gentle, time. Wanda Lowe is called for the catastrophic storm that opens this memorable novel. She is born in a not-too-distant future Florida, with its energy grid and social material unraveling. As Wanda’s private losses mount, we see what she positive aspects within the areas that stay. I hold returning to imagery and themes on this highly effective e-book, with its hopeful tone regardless of its civilization’s devastation. The blip of magical aspect within the e-book had me scratching my head at first. Was it actually obligatory? As I mirror upon its affect on the narrative, my reply leans sure. As a result of, once more: Hope is gentle within the darkness. The creator has executed her homework in making a post-climate-disaster Florida and surviving/survivalist characters making do with what and the way the world modifications. I am going to forgive her for utilizing the phrases ‘row’ and ‘oar’ so many instances when referring to paddling a canoe.
