Hope is gentle within the darkness
Resilience, survival, adaptability. These are all themes of this novel instructed in 4 components — energy, water, gentle, time. Wanda Lowe is known as for the catastrophic storm that opens this memorable novel. She is born in a not-too-distant future Florida, with its energy grid and social cloth unraveling. As Wanda’s private losses mount, we see what she features within the areas that stay. I preserve returning to imagery and themes on this highly effective ebook, with its hopeful tone regardless of its civilization’s devastation. The blip of magical aspect within the ebook had me scratching my head at first. Was it actually needed? As I mirror upon its affect on the narrative, my reply leans sure. As a result of, once more: Hope is gentle within the darkness. The creator has finished her homework in making a post-climate-disaster Florida and surviving/survivalist characters making do with what and the way the world modifications. I will forgive her for utilizing the phrases ‘row’ and ‘oar’ so many instances when referring to paddling a canoe.
